1.4 Do you accept coupons?

Yes, Food Basics does accept coupons.

Only one valid coupon is accepted on one item purchased. The one coupon redeemed is not valid with any other offer.

Internet Coupons: We accept Food Basics Coupons printed from our Food Basics website.

Manufacturer Coupons printed from the Internet, either on-line coupons or e-coupons are not accepted. (See store for more details.)

Coupons from Save.ca and WebSave.ca are accepted. These coupons are ordered from the website and Mailed to your home. These coupons are not printed from the internet.



Yes, we think coupons are a great way for you to save even more money at FreshCo, so we now accept both Vendor Pre-Printed Coupons and Internet/Printable Coupons.

In order to protect us both from fraudulent coupons that are sometimes found in the market, we have a few conditions:
We will accept one coupon per item purchased.
Coupons for Buy One Get One will be honoured.

All coupons must have the following:
A valid product name,
A valid expiry date.
A bar code.
A Canadian redemption address.

In addition, for Internet/Printable coupons:
Must be legible.
Must say “Internet Coupon”.
Have a value of $25 or less
Internet/Printable Coupons for “Free” product will NOT be accepted.

Giant Tiger

Stores have the right to refuse any coupons that appear to be photocopied, scanned or altered.

Internet/Manufacturer’s Coupons:
Coupons are accepted only if the store carries the item
Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase
Only Canadian coupons are accepted
The coupon must have Manufacturer’s instructions to the retailer as well as a Canadian remittance address
The item purchased must match the item presented on the coupon (identical in size, quantity, brand, style etc.)
The expiration date must be listed and coupons must be redeemed before the expiry date on the coupon
Coupons must have a scanable barcode

Number of coupons that can be used for each item:
Only one acceptable coupon may be presented for each item purchased within a transaction
The store reserves the right to limit quantities where multiple coupons are used for multiple purchases of the same item

Free merchandise with a coupon (i.e. BOGO):
No Sales tax is applied on free merchandise

When coupon value exceeds the price of the item:
If the value of the coupon exceeds the price of the item (including taxes), the excess value of the coupon is applied against the transaction total for all other items purchased (after taxes). Any remaining coupon value after the excess value has been applied against the transaction total for all other items purchased (after taxes) is not paid out as cash.


Shoppers Drug Mart

Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix will gladly accept any coupon if all of the below conditions are met:
Physical appearance of the coupon:
Must be legible with no signs of tampering
There must be a clear printed barcode on the coupon face
Standard manufacturer coupons should be printed on a material from an original source (e.g.

Newspaper, Magazine, Direct Mailer, etc.), photocopies will not be accepted.

Coupons from the internet and email are accepted and Must Be Printed. They follow the same guidelines as pre-printed Manufacturer coupons. We do Not accept coupons on any electronic device such as a Smartphone, tablets, etc.

Coupon requirements for Internet/Manufacturer must:
-be provided at the time of purchase;
-have Retailer/Dealer instructions;
-include the Manufacturer name;
-indicate a valid Canadian P.O. Box for remittance;
-have a valid expiry date;
-have a consistent offer for a specific item – same value or offer should appear in all areas of the coupon
-be a product or service that is sold/offered by Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix
-include the proper size and description of the product
-not exceed the value of the purchase price and only one coupon per item is permitted
-not be a competitor’s coupon;
-have one of the following accepted offers:
Dollar/cents off
Buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons
Free items (excludes internet coupons)

If the value of the coupon exceeds the value of the product, the coupon is to be processed as equal to the scanned retail of the product. The difference will not be issued as change.

Coupons that meet the above requirements, with the exception of coupons for free product, qualify towards the spend threshold for promotional events (20x Event, Tim Hortons Event, etc.).
All coupon redemption terms are subject to our Coupon Acceptance Guidelines in effect at the time of redemption.

Coupon acceptance is at the discretion of the store management team. Please speak to the Front Store Manager should you have any further questions or concerns.

We may change the terms and conditions of our Coupon Acceptance Guidelines at any time. Such changes may become effective without advance notice or advertisement.



Internet Coupons – Required:
Same guidelines as vendor coupons (see below)
Have a valid product name
Have a Canadian remittance/redemption address (e.g. P.O. Box 3000 Saint John, NB)
Have a valid expiry date
Limited to one coupon per item purchased
Will not be accepted for free product, but will be accepted for BOGO
Are acceptable in black & white and color
Must not be blurry
Must have a UPC
Must say “Internet Coupon”
Redemption value per coupon maximum value $25

Vendor Coupons
Verify the expiration date of the coupon.
Mailing address must be in Canada.
One of the following inscriptions should appear.
• To the Merchant
• To the Retailer
• To the Franchise
• To the Dealer
One coupon only can be used against each item purchased
Cashier to ensure the item was purchased, that the coupon pertains to
No reproductions/photocopies of vendor coupons
Coupon can’t be redeemed against a free item (eg: customer buys an item on BOGO, only one coupon may be used against the item paid for
Do not accept “Mailing Coupons” – ie: coupon is to be mailed in by the customer.

They do Not accept internet printed coupons.
They accept mailed coupons and other manufacturer coupons.


No Frills

We will gladly redeem your coupons. The following guidelines apply when presenting manufacturers’ coupons clipped from newspapers or magazines, received by mail, or obtained legitimately from the internet through our website or that of our partners:

The coupon must be legible and have a scannable bar code (UPC) and a remittable manufacturer’s address.

Coupons with an expiration date must be used within the stated time frame. Expired coupons will not be accepted.

Only one manufacturer coupon per item will be accepted.

Coupon values that exceed the price of the item will not be accepted.

Digitally duplicated copies of coupons (copy machines, scans, etc.) will not be accepted.

We do not accept competitor in store ad coupons
The following guidelines apply to internet coupons:

Manufacturer coupons that involve any kind of free product will not be accepted, including “buy one, get one free” offers.

No coupon that exceeds $5.00 will be accepted.

Internet coupons are not eligible for double coupon promotions or any any other program that exceeds the actual face value of the coupon.



The following represents guidelines shared with our stores to facilitate coupon handling:
coupon is accepted only if store carries the item

only Canadian coupons are accepted
the item purchased must match the item presented on the coupon. (identical in size, quantity, brand, style, flavour, color and/or any other specs used to identify the product on the coupon)
Expiration date must be present & be redeemed prior to the expiration

Manufacturer’s coupons:

Competitors coupons qualify if:
issued by a Canadian competitor
for a specific item for a specified price i.e. $2.99
buy one, get one free (BOGO) coupons for items with a specified price
they have a valid expiration date
and are acceptable in black, white or color

Number of coupons that can be used for each item:
only one acceptable coupon may be presented for each purchased item within a transaction
store managers reserve the right to limit quantities where multiple coupons are being used for multiple purchases of the same item

When coupon value exceeds the price of the item:
the excess amount can be given as cash or can be applied toward the basket purchase, at the customer’s choice

Free merchandise with a coupon (BOGO):
no sales tax is applied on the free merchandise

Accepts all legal coupons.
